Roadmaster Drivers School of Tampa, FL, is conveniently located on the beautiful Florida State Fairgrounds off Orient Road just south of the Hard Rock Casino. Students practice on a 27 acre truck driving school training course specifically constructed for tractor trailer driving instruction. When they aren’t in school, students can enjoy tons of sporting events and attractions including Busch Gardens and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Roadmaster teaches students how to drive a truck after about a month of CDL training classes. They guide you through the process of becoming a truck driver through instruction, development, and experience. Our truck driving school trainers are there for you at every step of the way, from when you walk in the door to when we introduce you to potential employers.

I came across the recent review about our driving instructors Ken, Mel, and Mr. Bill and felt compelled to share my counter-experience from being in a class with Mr. Paul. It's unfortunate to hear that someone has had a negative experience, however I am not surprised given the person did not listen, was crybaby because he could not get the maneuvers down, and failed his driving test (actually did not actually make it off the pad to get to the driving test) but it's important to recognize that this perspective may not reflect the reality of the situation or the experiences of the majority.

As someone who has also gone through the training program, I have found Ken, Mel, and Mr. Bill to be some of the most dedicated and experienced instructors I've encountered. Their years of experience and passion for teaching have been evident to me and many of my peers. I understand that everyone has their own learning style and that not every instructor's method will resonate with every student. However, it's critical to approach learning, especially something as crucial as driving, with an open mind and a willingness to take constructive criticism.

Regarding the review in question, it appears there may have been a significant disconnect between the reviewer's expectations and the teaching methods employed by the instructors. It's always challenging when there's a mismatch in communication styles, but it's also a student's responsibility to actively seek understanding and clarification in a respectful manner. Blaming others, especially without self-reflection on one's own role in the learning process, rarely leads to progress or resolution.

The language used in the review seems to be more of an attack on character rather than a constructive critique of teaching methods (which he lack the comprehension to understand) While it's valid to seek improvement in educational environments, resorting to derogatory language and personal insults undermines the reviewer's credibility and distracts from any legitimate concerns that might exist.

It's my belief that the instructors mentioned are far from the negative portrayal in the review. From my experience, they have shown nothing but respect for their students and myself and have gone above and beyond to ensure we are prepared not only to pass our driving tests but also to be safe and competent on the road. (FYI I was able to pass on the first try because of the instructors!!)

For anyone considering this training program, I highly recommend meeting the instructors and observing their classes firsthand. Everyone's experience is unique, and I believe that an open-minded approach to learning from seasoned professionals like Ken, Mel, and Mr. Bill will reveal the quality of their instruction and their commitment to their students' success. -

The training is awesome. The instructors are very knowledgeable and take time to show you how to do it the safe way.
The only issue I have is standing out in the 90°+ weather in central Florida. You can't control the weather but it is unsafe for students not to have a canopy to give them shade. There are two canopies on the pad but five training spots on thepad. The students can only sit there for five minutes at a time and are not allowed to sit on the grass. When it's extremely hot outside with no shade you need to be comfortable.The school emphasize safety when driving the trucks but do not do anything to take care of the instructors or students safety during extreme hot weather. There should be one canopy and picnic table at every training spot with a cooler on every picnic table. Students should be allowed to sit down under the canopy as they listen to the instructors. The ones that's making these decisions are up in a office and don't think about the safety of the students. THIS IS NOT BASIC TRAINING
Overall Roadmaster is a great school and I would recommend it to anyone looking to attend drivers school. -

I knew nothing about the trucking industry. I contacted Roadmaster and received great answers to my questions about a career in truck driving. After being admitted into the program, initially I was nervous but within the first week I was more knowledgeable and committed than anticipated. By Week 2 I was learning the truck parts. By Week 3 I was learning to drive and back the truck and trailer. By Week 4 I was gaining understanding and confidence. The personal commitment to my success by the Roadmaster Tampa staff and instructors was everything I could have asked for from a driver training program. They prepared and educated me for successful completion of the program and encouraged me throughout my evaluations, which set me up nicely for CDL examination. I have to say.. that my experience at Roadmaster Truck Driving School was hard at times, but ONLY because I made it hard. Every member of the staff went out of they're way to help me through the process of completing the school. All you have to do is study hard, stay calm when the going gets rough, listen to the staff, RESPECT THEM!! And you will breeze through the course with ease. Yes, the backing can be hard for beginners... but just listen to the staff and they will make it easy for you. Every staff member at Tampa Florida Roadmaster Driving School is AMAZING!!!!!!! Learn about everything you need to pass your CDL tests, as well as things not on the test. A week of classroom time covering the laws, safety procedures, and other general info. A week or less getting your truck inspections down with a parked tractor-trailer. Currently on the backing pad, and so far all the instructors have been great. PTI and Backing tests done on campus, road test is done on the roads around the school. (Edit: I passed my test and they sent out applications for me to various trucking companies, for the sake of privacy I won't disclose who I was hired on with, but they've been great so far.) -

I had instructions form all the instructors. I thought that was not the right way for me to learn but at the end they all had somthing that they do/say that was unique. I realized that i needed to use one way over another based on what situation I had, so at the end of the day I felt like that made my train of thought more versatile. I'm also glad I was making mistakes because I would have not know how to recognize them and fix them. My overall experience with Roadmaster was great. I received excellent instruction from the classroom and all the way through to the end of the course. The instructors were all very knowledgeable and helpful. Melissa was professional and really cared. She wanted to make sure we knew the laws and regulations.
